Steenbras Nature Reserve reopened after flooding

Steenbras Nature Reserve has been re-opened to the public following its closure earlier this month due to flooding which affected Clarence Drive (R44) near Gordon’s Bay. Read more below:
It was decided to re-open the reserve after the re-opening of Clarence Drive (R44). The Steenbras Nature Reserve staff conducted an assessment of the popular Steenbras River Gorge and Crystal Pools Hiking Trail and it was deemed suitable for hiking.
‘The reserve has a backlog of bookings for December. Therefore, no new bookings will be accepted until we can honour the existing paid upfront bookings. Steenbras Nature Reserve will be taking new bookings from 1 January 2023.
‘We thank our visitors for their understanding, and look forward to welcoming them back now that road access has been restored,’ said Alderman Eddie Andrews, the City’s Acting Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment.
